All Club Members pay $50/month dues, which cover all
non-flight related costs.
Our gliders rent at 30 minute increments; with a maximum of a
2 hour charge per flight at the following rates:
Our towplane charge is a $5 hookup fee per tow, plus $1 per
100 feet towed. Therefore, a tow to 2,000 feet AGL would cost $25. Aero
retrieves from other airports are charged at $150/hour, round trip from Horizon
Airport.
We do not charge for flight instruction, but soaring is a
group activity, and we request that all club members participate. Each student
learns at their own pace, and the time and expense needed to solo a glider and
earn a pilot's certificate may vary significantly from one student to the next.
The following estimates should be considered the minimum charges:
30 flights to solo a
glider: $1,050.
25 additional flights
to earn a private pilot's certificate: $875.
10 flights to solo a
glider: $350.
15 additional flights
to add a glider rating to a private pilot's certificate: $525, or
25 additional flights
to add a glider rating to a commercial pilot's certificate: $875.
