Welcome to the El Paso Soaring Society!  Our club is a non-profit organization that exists to promote and facilitate the sport of soaring, which is sustained gliding flight.  To learn more about soaring, please visit the Soaring Society of America's website.

The El Paso Soaring Society is located in the high desert of far west Texas, home to some of the greatest soaring conditions in the United States!  We operate all year, with abundant summer thermals to carry our gliders hundreds of miles, and strong winter mountain waves to lift our gliders tens of thousands of feet!  Nearby, we have both the Franklin and Sacramento Mountains which offer incredible ridge soaring opportunities!

Our club has certified flight instructors available to teach you how to soar, as well as our own Federal Aviation Administration Designated Pilot Examiner to issue you your own pilot's certificate. Besides initial glider training, we can teach you advanced soaring techniques, including cross-country soaring.

We are able to offer some of the lowest rates for club membership, glider rental and launch due to the generosity of our club's members.  Our tow pilots, flight instructors and examiner all offer their services for free.  All of our members are encouraged and requested to contribute to the club in any way that they can, so that we may continue to keep our costs down.
